When I decided to become a Blog Entrepreneur, I researched … or a more precise word is “stalked,” other successful bloggers on what services they use. I read their feedback and learned from them because I WANTED to be a professional and successful Blog Entrepreneur too! But to be a Blog Entrepreneur, I first needed a blog (duh!). The question that plagued my mind was What Self Hosting Platform do the Professional Bloggers Use? So, I put together a little round-up of some well known professional Blog Entrepreneurs and what platforms they use so you see too.

Why use Self Hosting Platforms
The most popular self-hosted platforms are Bluehost, SiteGround, Host Gator, and FlyWheel.
These self-hosting platforms are independent and have fewer restrictions than hosted websites. Hosted websites such as WIX, Blogger, Tumbler, and Square Space have restrictions on customization and functionality. Think of a hosted platform as a regular chocolate cookie. All sites under the hosted platform will be the same. The self-hosted cookie can have sprinkles, icing, nuts, etc. You get the idea, right?
Suzi runs the popular site, Startamomblog.com. When I found Suzie’s blog, I didn’t have a clue about what Blogging entailed. When I read her success story and how much she made by blogging and selling her own products, I was hooked
Elna blogs on the successful Twins Mommy site. She is also a freelance writer and Blog Entrepreneur with several other blogs. Her husband is also a developer. So, she knows a thing or two about self-hosting platforms. Elna also writes helpful articles on SEO, gaining more traffic to your blog and produces helpful online courses.
Making Sence of Cents – Michelle Schroeder-Gardner
Michelle is a novice when it comes to Affiliate Marketing. In her monthly income reports, she makes over $100,000 a month in revenue from her blog. Read my article on her Secrets to Making Over $100,000 a month on 1 Blog. I took Michelle’s course on Making Sense of Affiliate Marketing, and let me tell you, It was Phenomenal! The information you gain from the strategies Michelle uses to generate Affiliate Income will lead you down the path of earning income from your blog.
One thing is for sure, Michelle knows how to market her affiliates. She uses Bluehost as her self-hosting platform and is an affiliate of Blue. In September 2018, she made around a whopping $44,000 just on the Bluehost Affiliate. WOW!
Michelle’s Choice – Blue Host
Just a Girl and Her Blog – Abby Lawson
Abby is an organizing feign and has beautiful, clean decorating skills. Her blog, Just a Girl and her blog, showcases her organization skills and she also produces great organizing binders to help you declutter and organize better. Abby’s site makes me want to strive to be perfectly organized just like her.
Abby’s choice for a self-hosting platform is Fly Wheel. Fly Wheel kind of fly’s under the radar. As one of the more pricer platforms, it gives you the bells and whistles already included that you would have paid ‘A la cart for with other hosting providers. Also, Fly Wheel only works with WordPress sites. No Joomla or Drupal. They strictly work with WordPress and know it inside and out.

The Wherever Writer – Amy
Amy is a traveling blogger and freelance writer. She literally travels to exotic places and blogs. Hence, her blog name, The Wherever Writer. How exciting is that?! She also makes a great living from it.
Like Suzie from Start a Mom Blog, Amy was with Bluehost for many years. But she said that with Blue Host, she experienced slow site load times and poor customer service. Since she switched from BlueHost to SiteGround, her site loads faster and the customer service is responsive and helpful.
Happy Employees = Happy Customers
Each month, SiteGround highlights a Top Technical Support Representative of the month. All the highlights feature an employee who has been with SiteGround 5 years or more. The feature will also list quirky things such as Favorite Office Tradition, The Funniest Client Support Situation and Favorite Customer Case. Also, it gives cumulative stats on how many customers the employee served and percentage of happy clients. I truly believe the atmosphere and energy of a company shine thru and reflects on how they treat their customers.
Vendors of clients who also use SiteGround have great things to say about them too.
We keep track of which hosts we get a lot of support requests for, so we can reach out to them. We had a hard time finding SiteGround in that list as we had so few complaints from customers hosted with them.

Back- Up Support
What I really love about Site Ground is their user-friendly interface; especially, when it comes to backup support. I like to think of myself as an intermediate when it comes to my website. I like to change themes, play with widgets and at times go into the CCS editor and wreak havoc.
When I accidentally killed my website, I first panicked and then I immediately went to my Support Section of SiteGround Account. I then found I can restore my website to when it was the last backed-up. SiteGround also has an Instant Backup on Demand feature that lets you create a back-up at any time. These features are saving graces for me because it gives me the peace of mind and security I need to make my own changes to my website and I know that SiteGround has my back.
When I first started my blog, I didn’t have much to start off with. After I read SiteGround reviews and learned that it was super affordable, I decided to use SiteGround as my sites hosting platform. Plans start at $3.95 per month. You can’t beat that!
In short, SiteGround is a preferred hosting platform for many professional bloggers. Professional bloggers switch daily from BlueHost to SiteGround because of the great customer service, speed, uptime, and affordability. Should you make the switch too?
